👨🏻💻 Ufuk Barış Mutlu (Istanbul, 1993) is a visual communication designer, media artist. Following his high school education in Terakki Foundation Schools, he graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University Visual Communication Department in 2016. He is currently studying for his Interactive Media Design master’s degree at Yıldız Technical University. His early works focusing on graphic arts, has morphed into producing physical works in the multidisciplinary realm of the new media arts, due to his interest in industrial manufacturing techniques, materials and textures. Since 2015, he has been working on new media artworks inspired by optical illusions’ rhythmic harmony with mechanic movements. On the other side, he is conducting commercial graphic, branding, product and architectural installation design projects under the roof of his studio: StudioMutlu. The studio had a variety of clients such as ATÖLYE, Chobani, Sabancı University and Zorlu Holding in a short time span. His personal and collective works have been displayed on a number of festivals and venues such as Contemporary Istanbul, Corridor Project Space Amsterdam, Gaia Gallery, Mamut Art Project, Philipps-Universität Marburg, Studio-X Istanbul, Sónar+D, Zorlu Performing Arts Center and whiteBOX München. In 2017, he has collaborated with 11 local artists and Squidsoup (UK) for the AltCity Istanbul artist residency program co-held by British Council, Digilogue and Zorlu Holding. In 2016, he has published his first book, “Balta, makas, çekiç”, a cultural research and documentation project on Anatolian hand tools. His works are featured on several publications like Design Unlimited, Popular Science and CI Mag. He is a member of Graphic Designers Association (TR) and People of Print (UK).
